The beach
Direct access to La Franca beach reveals an impressive stretch of white sand in a triangular shape. At high tide it is an idyllic place to spend time in the water, very safe for children and perfect for practicing water sports, rock and underwater fishing. However, the beach is transformed at low tide, turning into a wide sandy area full of caves and natural arches. Perfect for those who prefer to create their own more adventurous #CampStories, exploring the dreamy smaller beaches with which the beach connects, such as El Oso, Regorgueru, and El Viveru. In the latter, perfectly integrated among the rocks of the cliff, are the remains of an old seafood nursery that enhances the natural beauty of the surroundings and gives its name to the cove.
The surroundings: nature and history
If you're more into exploring landscapes and hiking than staying on the beach, don't worry, because HolaCamp La Franca is also for you. One of the things that makes eastern Asturias special is its diversity. Close to the Sierra del Cuera and the Picos de Europa, full of charming villages, rivers and with the greenest coast in northern Spain, it has something for everyone.
Between the sea and the mountains
From HolaCamp La Franca you can enjoy one of the greatest privileges that Asturias has to offer: seeing the sea and the mountains on the same day.
Around the campsite, nature never ceases to amaze. Just a few kilometers from the complex are the Bufones de Santiuste. Unique rock formations where, at high tide, the sea creeps through underground caves and, when it collides with its walls, it launches impressive jets of water and air into the sky. A show that will amaze both children and adults alike and become an unforgettable memory.
Also nearby are the Sierra del Cuera And the majestic Picos de Europa, where you can enjoy landscapes that rival the sea. Ideal for hiking, wildlife watching or simply sharing a picnic with your loved ones on the shores of the famous Covadonga lakes: Enol and Ercina. And if you like fishing or canoeing, the Asturian rivers won't let you down. The Cares, the Deva, the Purón and the Sella, also famous for its International canoe descent, are the ideal setting to promote coexistence and team spirit through sport and nature.
A trip to the past
If history is your thing, the environment of HolaCamp La Franca will also win you over. Very close to the campsite you can visit prehistoric caves such as El Pindal, Tito Bustillo or El Buxu, with impressive cave paintings scattered around its series of galleries and ornate rooms.
Just a few minutes away, monumental villas such as Llanes, with its colorful port and its marine air, or Santillana del Mar, known as “the town of the three lies” (it is neither holy, nor plain, nor does it have a sea).
Also worth a visit is the Church of Santa María de Tina, a set of medieval ruins that preserves frescoes, a main altarpiece and a pulpit carved in wood, all in an environment of unparalleled peace and beauty, perfect for stopping and reflecting.
