HolaCamp Camino receives Starlight certification: the ideal campsite for stargazing

Blog publicado el Dec 11, 2025 por Olivia Jero

In HolaCamp we have always looked at the sky with curiosity. We love that feeling of lying outside after spending the day exploring, and counting stars without haste.
And now we have the best excuse to do it even more: HolaCamp Camino has received the Starlight certification! This recognition attests to the exceptional quality of our night sky and our commitment to responsible, sustainable tourism that respects the natural environment.

Our campsite in A Coruña already stood out for its privileged environment, ideal for exploring nature hiking, cycling or simply enjoying the fresh air. But now that it offers you nights that stick in your memory, it shines brighter than ever.

We can now proudly say that we are part of the list of Starlight Camps, a place where stargazing is much more than an activity: it's an experience that connects us to nature and to what really matters.

What is Starlight?

Starlight Foundation is dedicated to protecting the night sky and promoting local development through the so-called “Star Tourism” (or astrotourism, if you're more of a technicalist). To this end, they created the international Starlight Certification system, which combines science and tourism with a common goal: to take care of the sky in a different way and ensure that we can continue to enjoy the light of the stars.

Before granting certification, the foundation assesses aspects such as activities that we organize, the audience that visits us, the quality of facilities and the geographical location. All to ensure that Starlight campsites maintain the balance between comfort and nature.

At HolaCamp, that balance is part of our DNA, because our spirit has always been the same: to live outdoors without sacrificing comfort, and to learn from nature with respect and desire to share.

Our Commitment to Sustainability

To be a Starlight Camp means being part of a network of spaces that are much more than a beautiful place to look at the sky. They are spaces that offer sustainable and environmentally friendly experiences. Because protecting natural darkness is essential to maintaining the balance of the environment and taking care of the fauna. And it also helps us and our travelers to rest better and reconnect with the essentials.

At HolaCamp we are committed to a responsible and conscious tourism and we design authentic experiences that respect the local environment, always encouraging the connection between people and nature.

The Starlight certification is, in fact, a way of demonstrating that it is possible to travel, learn and enjoy, leaving a mark on travelers without leaving it on the environment.

News: this is the new HolaCamp observatory

The Starlight badge is accompanied by many surprises for those who visit us. We are creating an astronomical observatory designed so that you can enjoy the stars without worrying about anything.

In this new space you can find everything you need to create brilliant memories with your loved ones:

  • Telescope to observe planets, moons and constellations and learn from nature.
  • Astronomical binoculars for those who prefer to explore at their own pace.
  • Reclining sun loungers because, as always, we want to be in touch with nature without sacrificing comfort.
  • If technology is your thing, you can use astronomy applications recommended by our team, while if you are more curious or nostalgic you can find your way around with the traditional planisphere.

In addition, workshops and classes will be held on demand starting in spring and summer.

Staying at HolaCamp Camino you can access the observatory for free. You only have to book it at reception, where they will provide you with the necessary material to enjoy a night that you will always want to remember.

We have everything designed to make looking at the sky as simple as looking up, relaxing with your loved ones and letting yourself be surprised.

An experience that connects us

At HolaCamp Camino we welcome all types of travelers, and we want everyone to live this new experience in their own way. That's why we've thought of different ways to enjoy the sky.

As a couple

If you come as a couple, spending a night under the stars is the most romantic plan in the world. Perfect for disconnecting from worries and reconnecting while enjoying a unique night. Because yes, the jacuzzi in the cabin is great, but discovering stars together is even better.

With the family

With the family, The observatory is an opportunity to awaken the curiosity of children and learn together how planets move, how stars are born or why the Milky Way shines. An adventure that is sure to become one of those Campstories worth explaining and remembering.

With friends

With your friends the experience can turn into a night of laughter, endless conversations and constellations that will turn into moments you don't want to forget.

Astronomical events you can't miss

In 2026, from HolaCamp Camino you can enjoy two evening shows that you don't want to miss. On August 12th you will be able to witness a total solar eclipse and on August 28th you will be able to see a partial lunar eclipse.

Take the opportunity to experience these unique astronomical phenomena in the natural environment of our campsite in O Pino, surrounded by forest, silence and good company.

This achievement is of the entire HolaCamp team and of every person who has admired the night sky from HolaCamp Camino. And it motivates us to keep doing out of what we love, something extraordinary.

Starting next Monday, 15 December, you can enjoy all news at HolaCamp Camino: our observatory will open its doors so that you can live this unique experience surrounded by nature and your loved ones.

Because the best nights aren't spent in a hotel, they're spent outdoors.
